The Storm Series AC power cables are amongst the latest developments from AudioQuest. These high-end power cables are a design collaboration between Bill Low and Garth Powell.
The Hurricane High Current uses Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors throughout. This superior quality Copper is claimed to eliminate harshness and improve clarity compare to other types of Copper including OCC, 8N types.
The Hurricane cable is terminated with AudioQuest's proprietary Hanging-Silver Red-Copper Plugs, with the options of 15 Amp or 20 Amp IEC connectors.
AudioQuest Hurricane is capable of delivering 20 amps RMS @ 125VAC 50/60Hz (16 amps RMS @ 220-240VA 50/60Hz) and suited to many higher current applications such as power amplifiers, AC power regenerators, power conditioners, etc.
Traditionally, power cables are ground with the use of a shield and drain wire. The downside of this approach is that the RF noise that the “shield” should deflect finds it way on to the ground plane of the audio/video system. This in turn causes a form of signal modulation, a distortion of the signal.
AudioQuest’s Ground Noise Dissipation System effectively reduces this signal modulation by combining different shield strategies which reduce RF energy before it reaches the ground.
